This playful character was installed at the corner of Rose Avenue and Main Street in 1989, by world-renown American sculptor Jonathan Borofsky. Crafted from aluminum, steel, and fiberglass, the 30-foot high installment also employs an electric motor, which slowly extends and retracts its right leg. Critics suggest the genderless piece brings together male and female, as well as classic performance with whimsy. However you perceive it, this unusual art piece fits well within the festive and carnival-like ambiance of Venice itself.
