In order to view the entire 5,000 plus works in the Museum of Contemporary Art’s collection, one must visit its three facilities: this main building on Grand Avenue in downtown L.A., the Geffen Contemporary Museum on Central Avenue, and the MOCA Pacific Design Center on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. In fewer than three decades since its founding, MOCA has become one of the world’s most renowned museums dedicated solely to contemporary art. The permanent exhibitions include works by colorful pop-culture icon Roy Lichtenstein, lascivious British painter David Hockney, and American abstract artist Ed Moses.
