“It looks just like in the movies!” many people say, as they walk onto the Venice Boardwalk. Here you’ll see vendors selling clothes, glass pipes and jewelry, while others offer palm readings and henna tattoos. Street performers juggle, sing, and dance; bikini-clad rollerbladers and beach cruisers zip along the bike path. Skateboarders zigzag across graffiti-covered cement embankments, and surfers make their way to and from the ocean. It’s nearly three miles from Venice Pier to Santa Monica Pier, and all along the way, there are opportunities to buy some funky incense, get multicolored hair braids, eat $1 slices of pizza, and possibly catch a glimpse of the infamous Harry Parry—a turbaned, skating guitar player. (Harry even has his own CD for sale!)
