From dawn until dusk.
Will Rogers State Beach, an almost two-mile stretch of sand at the intersection of PCH and Temescal Canyon, is named after the beloved, lariat-twirling 1930s movie star and Santa Monica resident. Rogers’ 186-acre ranch is now Will Rogers State Historic Park, located just a few miles northwest of the beach, off PCH and Sunset Boulevard. The park is touted as one of “LA’s best kept secrets” and celebrities are sometimes spotted hiking the trails behind the polo grounds. Down on the beach, you may see the celebrated members of the Association of Volleyball Professionals practicing their moves at the numerous volleyball courts. Don’t be surprised to find Gabrielle Reece and Karch Kiraly mixed in among local enthusiasts playing weekend pick-up games. Other visitors to the shore enjoy sun bathing, swimming, and riding along the bike path where numerous movies and TV shows have been filmed, including many episodes of Baywatch.
